What Is Merchant Funding?
Merchant funding is a means by where a merchant can receive a lump sum of cash in a short amount of time by selling his future credit card receivables to a merchant funding company. Merchant funding is private lending, and there is no collateral involved. A merchant must process credit cards in order to apply for merchant funding. The merchant pays no interest on the funding, but rather a factored rate. He knows exactly how much he has to pay back on the funded amount. The merchant funding company takes a percentage of the credit card receivables until the amount is paid back.
