Project Medishare

Project Medishare was founded by Dr. Arthur Fournier and Dr. Barth Green in 1994. Its first faculty team was with the University of Miami Schools of Medicine and Nursing and its goal was to see how they could improve the health and sanitary situation in Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. As stated on the Project Medishare website, the goal of the program is to:

  1. Provide health care to rural communities in Haiti through funding programs;
  2. Train doctors, nurses, and health professionals
  3. provide technology and equipment to their main medical facility in Themonde and other locations.

Within 18 hours after the massive 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti, causing tremendous loss of life and damage, Project Medishare was already on the ground organizing relief and medical attention to survivors.  The group of doctors were in a particularly unique position as they have been working on the island for over a 15 years.  For the Project Medishare Blog
